Family Gardens

We have provided this family with JOJO water tank, seeds, seedlings, training and mentoring on food security and nutrition. We have also fenced their food garden to prevent animals from having access to their produce. These are some of the services they enjoy from food security section of Isibani Sethemba. This garden has made a noticeable difference in their lives and because of that they are very grateful to Isibani Sethemba for these interventions. Our beneficiaries are able to help other families in their neighborhood that are not into our program by sharing with them from their...

Ingwavuma Traditional Leaders’ Dialogue

This dialogue was facilitated at one of the local traditional courts. The participants are traditional leaders from different areas under the same chief. It was the first of the series of dialogues that we planned with all the three traditional courts around Ingwavuma. The purpose of this dialogue was to do needs analysis and to ascertain challenges faced by traditional courts/traditional leaders in their every day work. The outcomes of these dialogues will inform the program we’re planning to do to better serve the traditional leaders. This was just phase 1 of the process, we are still going to meet with other relevant key...

Donation from PEP Stores

PEP stores, Jozini branch donated school uniform, they also provided lunch for the day. They came to our centre and handed out the parcels to the children. The children’s guardians were also invited although some could not make it. PEP truly helped us, we are not in a position to provide our children with school uniform and books, and this is a great need. Thank you PEP Stores for making a difference!!!

Isibani Sethemba Memory Box Children’s Camp

Every year we run about three memory box camps for about 20 OVCs at a time. The camp is over four days. This is part of our OVC program which normally takes place during school holidays. Memory box children’s camp is a program that empowers children with coping skills so as to build resilience. It helps them to accept loss, deal with grief and to understand their own feelings so that they can manage them better. Most of them are already on ART treatment and are part of the support groups. Some live with their foster parents; very sick parents while other are coming from child-headed households. Children are afforded opportunities to tell their own stories, in their own ways, using their own language. They also make collection of their own memory boxes. Counselling is provided by trained and experienced staff...

Educational Tour to Ndumo Game Reserve

About 30 of Isibani Sethemba OVCs took part in a Saturday Expedition to one of our local game reserves. They really had fun and enjoyed themselves. They had orientation, educational games, a tour to see different animals and concluded the day with a braai. Some of these kids have never been out of their communities, let alone being in a game reserve. Thumbs up to Ndumo Game Reserve for not charging us for this tour!!! These types of excursions are very good for our children as they expose them to nature and broaden they minds. Psychology legislate Different sites in different areas around Ingwavuma are used for hosting these workshops. They are very interactive and fun in nature, one on one sessions are also made available. Some of the Students Dynamic Group are from our area which is very encouraging for our learners, and they relate to their...
